Last Tuesday 300 kilos of clothes, linen and blankets have departed from Onda (Castellon) to the Italian town of Amatrice, the place recently devastated by an earthquake that left hundreds of homeless families in need.

Monica Reche and Pili Feliu were the promoters of this action. Mrs. Feliu explains that she has some friends in this Italian region (which already suffered a similar incident a few years ago) and they were the ones who in their day promoted the group “Los ángeles de novi” (The Novi Angels, in Spanish) to collect material and thus help those affected. An initiative that has been reactivated with this new earthquake and also with the collaboration from different parts of Spain.

In this joint initiative that has been held during ten days, many people have donated their items at local Vila-Real establishments such as Momo, Estetic Zhen, Babaia, La Repro and Ferretería Esteve.

The responsible for shipments said: “I’m speechless! That’s how we felt when Carlos Monfort, from Transportes Monfort – the local freight company that usually makes the Castellon-Italy route told us they would take all the donations to Amatrice, FREE OF CHARGE!!!! This is one of those times that you feel proud to see how people can share for the common good. Thank you very much to everyone!”
